Error: "AutoCAD caused an invalid page fault in module AC1ST15.DLL at 017f:655cle3b" after installing Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 8.0

Situation:
After installing Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 8.00.9374 (Symantec AV) on Windows 98 Second Edition computers, AutoCad does not work. When you attempt to open the program, you see the error message "AutoCad caused an invalid page fault in module AC1ST15.DLL at 017f:655cle3b."

Solution:
Symantec is investigating this problem to determine a resolution. This document will be updated when new information or a solution is available.

At this time, uninstalling Symantec AV and manually uninstall Symevent is the only solution.

This issue may occur in different versions of AutoCad ( AutoCad Lite 2002 or AutoCad 2000i). Additionally, uninstalling Symantec AV 8 and uninstalling and reinstalling AutoCad does not allow the program to become operable. The same error still exists. Only uninstalling Symantec AV and manually uninstalling Symevent allows AutoCad to again work without error.

To uninstall Symantec AV and manually uninstall Symevent:

CAUTION: Note that if you have other Symantec products installed, the removal of Symevent will render those products inoperable.


1. Uninstall Symantec AntiVirus Client from Add/Remove Programs.
If necessary, see document: How to manually uninstall the Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 8.0 for Windows 98/Me client.
2. Search and remove all instances of Symevent from the registry and the local hard drive by using the document How to remove Symevent manually from Windows 95/98/Me.
